New Year - New Challenges

We are a couple of weeks into 2015 now and, although I'm not much for new years resolutions, I've decided to start the new year off by finally starting a blog focused on my transition to a new technology stack.

Lotus Notes came into my life in 1993 and it has provided for me reasonably well for the past 20+ years.  Unfortunately all good things must come to an end and Lotus Notes (or IBM Notes as it is now called) is no exception.

There are many reasons for this.  I believe, and I think most people in the Notes community would agree, that IBM has mishandled the stewardship of the product.  The details would take up several more blog posts but I'm not going to repeat what has been said in many other forums.

Notes is NOT dead, although its use is most definitely in decline.  Notes still has features that are really hard to find in other products. Many companies will continue to benefit from this very unique product for many years to come.  There just isn't enough work out there for Notes-centric companies like mine to survive.

I accepted this a long time ago and began to lay the groundwork for what's next.

This blog will document the journey.
